A little paint, makes it what it ain't

I haven't much to share today for White Wednesday except for two small projects I undertook. I found this gold Syrocco style mirror with such beautiful lines. Now she's gold... Now she's white! Amazing what a paintbrush can do. The detail looks sooo much prettier now, don't you think?
Below, I found the simplest embellishing project on the planet. I found a shabby white tin box with handle. I affixed a vintage rhinestone earring to the front, added some pinkish lace to the handle, filled it with tissue paper and sold it in my booth space as an elegant gift bag/easter basket.

It sold the same day I brought it in. I love thinking up simple, new things to create... And of course I also get other ideas from some of the amazing bloggers and Etsy sellers out there.
I had to snap a pic of it as it sat on the counter waiting to go out the door.
I'm linking up with Kathleen over at Faded Charm. Be sure to stop by and see all the wonderful whites!

For now....Happy White Wednesday, Happy Spring (even though it's going to SNOW here later this afternoon). Boo hoo! Well, as I always say...it's Spring when GOD says it's Spring, not when our calendars say it's Spring :)

My little garden corner

As promised, here are a few shots of the second little space that I'm renting, this one with a garden/porch theme. I was in there the last couple days adding, arranging, and rearranging...you know how it is.

The dimensions of the room are tiny, so photographing the overall look is difficult in one shot. I think it looks much sweeter to the eye in person. I have it crammed from ceiling to floor, which is hard to appreciate in the pics.
These old chippy green shutters were found in the attic of my 115 year old colonial. They are perfectly weathered in all the right places. I believe they were original to the house. I have a few more of these too!
Lots of old treasures for planters, like wooden drawers, sap buckets, a coal bucket, etc. I don't know if you can tell from this pic, but the large white shelf that holds all the goodies below is actually backed with an old picket fence.

My fellow shop girl and friend Sue, gave me this beauty as a gift to begin my space with. Wasn't that the nicest thing ever? I have lots more to add but for now..........I think it's time to fluff up my first space (the shabby one) A little revamping is overdue there.

All this fluffing and feathering is finally putting me in the mood to do something with my own surroundings at home. Haven't been in the mindset for that, but with Spring comes new hope and I'm ready to roll with the changes. Until next time,

Sweet and Simple

What do you suppose this is? Look at those shabby sweet scalloped edges....

Ta Da! It's my vintage cherub wall shelf...although it sits nicely on a table or dresser too! This beauty has lived in my bedroom for a few years now. It's the perfect shade of creamy white, and the cherub's are some sort of iron or metal that someone affixed to the shelf.

As much as I've enjoyed this piece, I'm thinking it might be time to pass her along for someone else to enjoy. The Cherub on the left has a broken wing (poor babe), but that just makes it all the more precious to me. He won't be doing any flying...but he can still play his little harp just fine. The Cherub on the right keeps busy with his little trumpet....announcing good news...I'm just sure of it! I think this piece will go wonderfully in our "At Home with White" Under the Tent Event. Hope to see some of you fellow bloggers there! For now I'm linking up with Kathleen over at Faded Charm. Happy White Wednesday everyone~

A sneak preview

As some of you may know, I'm soon to be opening up a second space at the WCS. This tiny corner will be a garden style theme and I'm so excited about it. Just wanted to give you a small preview of some of the goodies going in. I made these little sweeties.... This is an old folding step stool ladder in gorgeous garden green. Straight from my parents home....
I can't decide whether to put this in the garden space, or wait till our "At Home with White" event. It's a chippy white iron plant stand...very solid and sturdy with hearts and rust in just the right places. Pics don't do it justice.
This is my sitting room...what a mess, right? I'm trying to gather everything, create new things, and then price them. By the time I get anything over to the shop, I'm afraid Spring and Summer will be over. :(
Old chippy door panels that were embellished with vintage drawer pulls. Just perfect for a garden, shed, or porch. (Thanks for the help Dad)! These sweet scalloped flower boxes were also prettied up with some old drawer pulls. My heart is tugging at me to keep these....we'll see! Well...that's just a small preview of my garden goodies. Once I get the space set up, I'll take some pics and show you all. Let me know what you think so far or if you have any good ideas...

A much needed reminder

As I was poking through the aisles of Jo-anns Fabrics this morning, I came across something that stopped me in my tracks. This may look like an ordinary thing to some of you...a little way to feed the birds. But to me, it meant so much more. I KNEW I had to buy it and keep it in front of me as a visual reminder ....a reminder of something I already know, but sometimes allow fear to crowd out. You see, I've been going through some very difficult things in my personal life the last few months that will have far reaching effects on my future. My faith is in God and He's been carrying me through in an almost miraculous way. However, sometimes in my very human nature, I take my eyes off of HIM and start to look around at my circumstances and then fear of the unknown grips me. Where will I live? How will I afford it?

Then, I saw this little beauty and was reminded of God's most precious Word that says" Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
Matt. 10:29-31 When I see this statue, I'm reminded that I too am in God's very strong capable hands and how much more valuable I am than the little sparrows he cares for. I'm sooo thankful I found this reminder...do you suppose He led me to it???

A Vintage Market Event

We're having a first time ever event at the Wrentham Country Store and if you're anywhere in the area (or even need to travel a bit) this will be worth it. We're holding a vintage market themed "At home with white"

We're renting a big tent for all our treasures and some of the theme will be carried inside the store as well. Items in the tent will be "never offered before" items (as in no existing stock from our spaces) so this will be a fresh look for everyone. All the shop girls are busy hunting unique items for your decorating pleasure. White and cream shades of everything shabby, french, farmstyle, and rustic, mixed with textures of burlap, silver, mecury, industrial...you get the picture.

So mark your calendars for April 9th and 10th...you won't want to miss this. And if you don't live nearby to Wrentham, MA, wouldn't this be a great time to dust off your maps (or plug in your GPS) and take a little roadtrip? Shake off that cabin fever and come out and join us..... .and tell all your friends too!

Just have to mention that I had the pleasure of popping into my parents attic yesterday and I found two vintage storage barrels with just the right french/industrial look for this sale. So excited!!!!

Hope to see you all there...and be sure to say hi!
Blessings and hugs,
Karen
