Weekend Jaunt

Over the long weekend, I was able to unearth some lovely treasures.  Yes, I found this vintage case with the sheet music already applied.  Can you believe it??  And this precious silk hat has the most gorgeous flowers, lace and tulle you can imagine.

A vintage wicker basket with little pom-poms to dress it up...  I fell in love with it at first glance!

I'm never one to pass up anything with farmhouse appeal.  This little box with dividers was only made more enticing to me laden with stencils.

I've arranged my tresors in a little grouping for you to see. Oh...and I also grabbed that white divider box...great for utensils, etc.  All of these finds have landed in my space at the shop.

I'm always torn about what to keep and what to sell.  It makes good sense to buy only what I like....then if it doesn't sell...well...you know where I'm going with this....

Lastly, although I've posted similar pics of my living room before, I just loved the light and view yesterday from where I was in the sitting room, so I wanted to share this pic...

I love the shabby, french, and farmhouse look, but for this Spring and Summer, I went for more of a cottage feel for this room.  It makes me feel happy when I see the light and bright colors.

Memorial Day Parade in my town....

Little weekend finds

Found just a few small tresors on my "hunt" this weekend past...

This white washed cubby for one, along with the goodies inside: 

a vintage westclox clock

2 antique little jars...

a Dundee Orange Marmalade jar w/cover (not antique, but sweet just the same)

a rusty metal garden candle lantern.  The cloche style glass is very heavy.

Here's a close up of the jars. The one on the left is a genuine antique marmalade jar. The imprint on the bottom states Not Genuine Unless Bearing WMP Hartley's Label  MF

a transfer ware cup (is this an egg cup?) 

If so...that's sure one big chicken that lays THAT egg...

Perhaps a dessert cup ~ any ideas?

Nothing says farmhouse kitchen like an old rusty scale. (Shabby green and white)

And of course, scoring this bling made me very happy.  The rhinestone bracelet at the top of the pitcher is sweet, but I wish you could see the way the blue and clear rhinestones sparkled on that choker. Lasted not even two days in the shop.

Small tresors, but enough to make the hunt fun!

Come and Sit a Spell

On this rainy day in New England, I thought it good to share a post of my farmer's porch.  I  finally set it up just last week on my day off.

Porches are outdoor spaces that invite so many wonderful moments...

a spot to read...

to think and relax...

to hope...

 to dream....

a special place to just be quiet before the Lord and pray...

napping is also a wonderful pastime on an old front porch

or even to catch up with a neighbor passing by on an evening walk

I can tell you with a full heart that I have done all of the above on this old porch

...and much more

...I have played tea party games with my granddaughters

...watched my sons come home from war to cut their yellow ribbons off the front porch posts

...taken prom pictures

...wedding pictures

...and had deep conversations with wonderful friends

I hope if you have a porch, a deck, or even just a small little patch of green somewhere, you'll find a way to make it your own....a place where dreams are made.

Whites, Vintage, and Shop Girls

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Today I have a bit of a smorgasbord of a post, so I hope you'll indulge me in my myriad of thoughts.

First, I wanted to post a few recent shots of my space at the WCS.  Isn't that Quilt Classes sign adorable? I snagged that at a sale from an antiques dealer~

Love Love Love this vintage china set

Sometimes a picture just doesn't capture the beauty of a piece, and this is one of those times.  It's an old sand loom I picked up at a sale. It's huge with grey weathered wood and a chunky handle on the top.  Would be perfect for a wall display~

This next piece is over the top gorgeous and unique. I purchased this from the same dealer that sold me the Quilt Classes sign.  Take a look...

It's a huge rusty antique Fleur de lis gate of some sort.  It's heavy and about 7-8 feet long I think...

I put this in the shop, but I think I may have sellers remorse.  If it doesn't sell in a few days, I may have to scoop it up and bring it home. :)

This would be perfect just about anywhere... in a garden, as a wall display, headboard for a bed, on a porch, or just leaning up against a wall.  It's a fantastic find...and I think I'm talking myself into keeping it...  lol

This is Louise! She did one fantastic job in the tent at the event.  She's the one I purchased that wonderful chippy cupboard from that you see in my last post.
